Kobudo is the sister art of true Okinawan Karate that utilizes a variety of weapons.

Kobudo means "the old martial way" in other words - fighting with weapons. Many school do simple weapons drills and forms and sometimes light sparring. At Okami Karate Dojo we train realistic weapons sparring strategies with an emphasis on fluid transition between armed and empty hand techniques. We train many common weapons including:
Bo staff
a 6-ft. staff great for keeping opponent and attacking at range
Jo staff
a 4-ft. staff with many techniques for combating an sword weilding opponent
Han-bo
a 3-ft. staff (about the size of a cane) great for up close control of an opponent
Boken
wooden japanese swords
Tonfa
a versatile arm guard weapon used for its defensive and clubbing techniques
Nunchaku
powerful swinging weapon that also has close quarter techniques
Sai
a three pronged metal weapon great for trapping attacks from an armed or un-armed attacker
Spear and Naginata
staff with a thrusting blade on it meant for attack
Eku
a 5 or 6-ft. oar with tremendous defensive advantages
